Industrial ventilation is a method of controlling worker exposure to airborne toxic chemicals or flammable vapours by exhausting contaminated air away from the work area and replacing it with clean air through the use of fans. So in a nutshell industrial ventilation is vital in clearing away welding fumes, solvent vapours, oil mists or dusts from a work location and exhaust these contaminants outdoors.

Control of worker exposure by ventilation fans or other means is required by WISHA occupational health regulations under the following three conditions:

1. When levels of airborne contaminants (chemicals, dusts, vapors, fumes) are hazardous, such as above their permissible exposure limits

2. When the lower explosive limit of flammable vapors is exceeded,

3. When the oxygen level drops below 19.5 % in the air.

There are three types of workplace ventilation:

A. Fans used in indoor air quality ventilation used primarily to provide fresh, heated or cooled air to buildings as part of the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system

B. Dilution ventilation which dilutes contaminated air in a whole building or room by blowing in clean air with fans and exhausting some dirty air and is usually accomplished with the use of large exhaust fans in the walls or roof of the building

C. Local exhaust ventilation which captures contaminating emissions at or very near the source through the use of extraction fans. It is needed when employees are exposed to high toxicity chemicals, when large amounts of dusts or welding fumes are generated, or when increased heating costs from ventilation in cold weather are a concern.

Air Cleaners

Air cleaning devices on ventilation systems are sometimes necessary to capture large amounts of dust. In some instances, they may be required by air pollution regulations. The type of air cleaner depends on the type of contaminant being removed, its concentration in the air, the amount of contaminant that must be removed

Fans

Fans are the workhorses of exhaust ventilation systems. They must be the appropriate size and type to make the ventilation system work effectively. They must provide enough air pressure difference (“suction”) to capture contaminants at the source, draw them through the hood, carry them through the ducting and exhaust them outdoors.

There are approximately 600 machine tool brands and 7500 new models to choose from. Not surprisingly, the new machine tools industry confronted its toughest challenge during the financial world economic recession and orders for machine tools declined. Reduced engineering activities resulted in less demand for machine tools.

Europe and Asia-Pacific have the lion’s share of the global new machine tools market and this could grow by 6.6% in the future. There has to be a significant increase in demand because of the now aging machine tool bases which need upgrading. As a result of this, used machine tools are available from many companies throughout South Africa. They supply machine tools such as CNC Machines, Metal working Machines, Injection Moulders, CNC Plasma cutting machines. They usually employ full time technicians that are factory trained to repair, install and commission these different machines. In addition some companies offer In House Training Centres for CNC Programming courses.

hese are some of the new machine tools being manufactured worldwide: Metal Cutting Tools (Boring & Drilling Machines); Gear Cutting Machines; Grinding, Honing, Lapping, Polishing, and Buffing Machines; Lathes; Milling Machines; Machining Centers; Station Type Machines; Metal Forming Tools (Punching & Shearing Machines); Bending & Forming Machines; Metal Working Presses; and Miscellaneous Tools, and Special Machine Tools (Water Jet Machines; Laser Machines; Electro Chemical Machines; Electrical Discharge Machines; and Coordinate Measuring Machines).

The coin was said to be one of the purest gold-based coins that was regularly issued in the world. It was only produced as a promotional product initially. But later, the Mint declared that it would produce more through orders because at an earlier time, there were interested buyers who signified their intentions directly to obtain them. In May 2007, there were 5 persons who confirmed their orders in which each paid between $ 2.5 and $3 million.
An advantage to be looked at when choosing a bearing puller is that it can be operated easily, safely, and
efficiently by one man and doesn’t require a team of workers to hold the jaws from snapping back. The centre
bolt threads should provide less effort in applying high torque and a cage could prevent the jaws of the puller
from falling off the work surface which would extend the life of the tool and worker safety.

There are two types of bearing pullers available: manual and hydraulic with the appropriate adaptor sets and special tools and accessories. An innovation in this market is the internal bearing puller kit, which offers fast and easy bearing removal with an ergonomically designed sliding hammer and a selection of spring-operated extractors. These bearing pullers are specifically designed for removing a bearing from a housing where the bearing’s fit is on its outer ring.

Plain bearings use surfaces in rubbing contact, often with a lubricant such as oil or graphite. A plain bearing may or may not be a discrete device. It may be nothing more than the bearing surface of a hole with a shaft passing through it, or of a planar surface that bears another (in these cases, not a discrete device); or it may be a layer of bearing metal either fused to the substrate (semi-discrete) or in the form of a separable sleeve (discrete). With suitable lubrication, plain bearings often give entirely acceptable accuracy, life, and friction at minimal cost. Therefore, they are very widely used.

However, there are many applications where a more suitable bearing can improve efficiency, accuracy, service intervals, reliability, speed of operation, size, weight, and costs of purchasing and operating machinery.

Thus, there are many types of bearings, with varying shape, material, lubrication, principle of operation, and so on. For example, rolling-element bearings use spheres or drums rolling between the parts to reduce friction; reduced friction allows tighter tolerances and thus higher precision than a plain bearing, and reduced wear extends the time over which the machine stays accurate. Plain bearings are commonly made of varying types of metal or plastic depending on the load, how corrosive or dirty the environment is, and so on. In addition, bearing friction and life may be altered dramatically by the type and application of lubricants. For example, a lubricant may improve bearing friction and life, but for food processing a bearing may be lubricated by an inferior food-safe lubricant to avoid food contamination; in other situations a bearing may be run without lubricant because continuous lubrication is not feasible, and lubricants attract dirt that damages the bearings.
