BEARING PULLERS
In a general discussion on bearing pullers, the Posi Lock range of products has been designed with efficient
performance, enhanced safety, and reduced down time in mind. The bearing puller range has pulling capacities of up to 100 t. Another special feature of the lightweight and user-friendly range is a patented control cage that holds the pulling jaws securely in either open or closed positions – thus enabling effective removal of stubborn gears, bearings, pulleys, and other press items from any machine in diverse industries,” says Becker Engineering product manager Eugene Davids.
An advantage to be looked at when choosing a bearing puller is that it can be operated easily, safely, and
efficiently by one man and doesn’t require a team of workers to hold the jaws from snapping back. The centre
bolt threads should provide less effort in applying high torque and a cage could prevent the jaws of the puller
from falling off the work surface which would extend the life of the tool and worker safety.
There are two types of bearing pullers available: manual and hydraulic with the appropriate adaptor sets and special tools and accessories. An innovation in this market is the internal bearing puller kit, which offers fast and easy bearing removal with an ergonomically designed sliding hammer and a selection of spring-operated extractors. These bearing pullers are specifically designed for removing a bearing from a housing where the bearing’s fit is on its outer ring.
